Recent acquisitions: IDEXX buys CoVet, The Farmer's Dog acquires Woof

Two notable pet-industry acquisitions closed in September. One bringing AI-powered clinical documentation into IDEXX's software ecosystem, the other marking the first acquisition for fresh-food brand The Farmer's Dog.

Two acquisitions in the pet health and wellness space closed within days of each other this month, underscoring continued investment and growth across veterinary technology and pet care.

IDEXX acquires CoVet

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. announced on September 16, 2026, that it has acquired CoVetAI Inc. (CoVet), a provider of AI-native ambient listening and clinical workflow software for veterinary practices.1 CoVet's platform helps veterinary teams capture and organize patient information from consultation through treatment planning and client follow-up, with the goal of reducing documentation burden.1 The company serves both multipractice corporate groups and independent practices. Its products are used by tens of thousands of clinicians across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.1

CoVet will be folded into the IDEXX software ecosystem, which the company said will continue to support other ambient scribe tools and third-party integrations; CoVet will also keep working with non-IDEXX practice management systems.1

Mike Erickson, president and CEO of IDEXX, said "CoVet brings leading workflow intelligence capabilities that complement our diagnostic and software ecosystem."1 IDEXX said the acquisition is intended to help surface patient insights at key decision points and support broader use of its diagnostic and clinical decision-support tools.1 The companies did not disclose the deal's financial terms.1

The Farmer's Dog completes acquisition of Woof

The Farmer's Dog, a fresh, human-grade dog food company, announced on September 18, 2026, that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of Woof, a pet wellness brand known for refillable enrichment products such as the Pupsicle.2 The deal is the first acquisition in The Farmer's Dog's history.2

Woof will continue to operate independently under its existing brand and leadership team while gaining access to The Farmer's Dog's resources to support its next phase of growth.2

Founded in 2019, Woof was ranked No. 3 overall and No. 1 in consumer products on the 2025 Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in America.2 Bank of America’s BofA Securities division served as exclusive financial advisor and Latham & Watkins LLP as legal counsel to The Farmer's Dog on the transaction.2 Financial terms were not disclosed.
