Good morning dvm360 readers! March has kicked off a plethora of awareness holidays within veterinary medicine, including Pet Poison Prevention Week, National Pet Vaccination and Women’s History Month. Throughout March, dvm360 will be honoring and recognizing women in the industry paving the way for others as well as helping veterinary professionals educated clients on the importance of vaccinations and poison prevention.

Here is what you can find this week on dvm360.com:

  • Mella Pet Care, a startup company based in Chicago, recently secured an investment from Mark Cuban after the company presented some if its products on the most recent episode for ABC’s hit show Shark Tank.
  • A recent study published in the Journal of Veterinary Medicine Education found that although women are the predominant professional and student populations, they still experience barriers to get roles in leadership.
  • The Vet Blast Podcast will be celebrating Women’s History Month by featuring women in veterinary medicine guests throughout the month. This week, Adam Christman, DVM, MBA, welcomes back Ryane Englar, DVM, DABVP (Canine and Feline Practice) to chat about empathy and sympathy in the exam room.
  • As canine separation anxiety took center stage of behavioral issues after the COVID-19 pandemic, are veterinary teams recognizing feline separation anxiety as well? During dvm360’s coverage of Midwest Veterinary Conference, the article will touch base on how to recognize and diagnose feline separation anxiety in cats.
  • PEDIGREE Foundation announced its 2024 Grant Cycle and that $1 million in annual grants will be given to animal rescues and shelters that are working to put an end to pet homelessness.
  • And more!
