Posts and tweets on client payment options

February 8, 2018

Nobody in veterinary practice likes to talk about money, but everyone needs to. Would it help if you educated veterinary clients early about the kinds of options that most excite you and your team, whether pet insurance, payment options or preventive-care plans?

This kitten is for you, not your veterinary clients. For your veterinary clients, check out the social media posts below ... (Shutterstock.com)If you need us to talk you into the need for practice owners, associates, managers and team members to know more about your practice's financial policies and options, watch this or read this.

If you need us to tell you why it might be great if someone at your practice researched pet insurance so clients know more about it, read this.

If you need us to tell you why preventive-care plans might have a bright future in many veterinary practices, start here.

If you're sold on one or all of those already, digest some of these prewritten social media posts and see if this is the sort of thing you'd like to tell clients so they think beforehand about questions they might want to ask. Adjust the wording or approaches to match your practice's culture on third-party payment plans, pet insurance and wellness plans. ...

Payment plans

"It can be a shock sometimes, that bill we present you with as you're headed out the door with your carefully cared-for pet. We understand, and that's why we make sure to give you estimates up front. But if you ever have a concern, just talk to us. A little background: We practice the best care possible for your pet. It's what we'd do for our own pets. We've gulped at a vet bill or two at times too. We'll go over everything we've done to make sure your pets are now doing their best. And we have several payment options to help. Let's talk!"

"We practice the best care possible for your pet. It's what we would do-and do-for our own pets. We'll go over everything we've done to make sure your pet is now doing its best. And we have several payment options to help. Let's talk!"

"DYK? Our veterinary practice has access to a number of special payment plan options that can help when you're facing a pet emergency and need a little extra coverage. Ask us about it!"

Wellness or preventive-care plans

"Surveys show pet owners want a monthly way to pay for veterinary care. We've got it: Ask us about the annual wellness plan with monthly payments our own staff uses."

"You visit the doctor every year for a checkup and tests. Your pet needs the same. Ask about our wellness plans with monthly payments."

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure: true for people, true for your pets. Come see us about our recommended annual wellness plan for your furry family member."

Pet insurance

"Preexisting conditions exist in pets too when it comes to pet insurance. If you've got a new, healthy pup or kitten, consider starting an insurance plan now before serious and possibly expensive problems arise. Stop by for a chat to examine your options so we can make the unexpected be a little less painful on your pocketbook."

"Pet insurance: We've done the research so you don't have to. Let us walk you through how to pick and set up a pet insurance plan and see how it can save your pocketbook if an emergency arises down the line."

"Pet insurance isn't mandatory, but it can be helpful when an unexpected accident or illness requires extended care. We don't sell pet insurance, but we've done the research on a few plans our team uses and likes. Let's talk at your next visit!"
