4 tips to improve client compliance on parasite prevention recommendations

Regardless of whether your practice's flea, tick, and heartworm product sales measure up to Well-Managed Practices' (see chart at left to compare), you know client compliance is crucial. Here's how you can help:

> Learn enough to make clear, specific client recommendations.

> Recommend only one to three preventive products. Clients can be overwhelmed by too many choices. Managers: Inventory costs on too many options can spiral out of control.

> Follow up with client reminders on proper dosing and refills.

> Review the medical record before a patient visit to decide which flea, tick, and heartworm preventives are vital to discuss with the client.
