Chewy has recently unveiled PetMD’s Symptom Checker,1 a user-friendly online tool designed in conjunction with veterinarians to help pet owners understand what may be causing their pet’s symptoms or when they should call a veterinarian.

In an announcement,2 Chewy explained how the symptom checker works. “Our team of veterinarians identified over 50 of the most common symptoms and combinations of symptoms that pets experience. To use the tool, simply answer a series of questions related to your pet’s symptoms—the tool will guide you to a summary page that includes information about possible causes, when you should call your vet, and helpful resources to help pay for veterinary care or chat directly with a Chewy online vet.”

The veterinarians developed each symptom journey for the Pet Symptom Checker by asking detailed medical questions to ensure accuracy and offer pet parents the best guidance.1 It then provides pet owners educational materials (eg, article links related to pet’s symptoms and potential health condition).

The veterinarians were able to pinpoint the most common symptoms pet owners report to them based on the telehealth Connect with a Vet tool. These symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, not eating, itching, eye problems, shaking head, and acting oddly.1
