Gordon recommends employees undergo a "complaining fast," cutting out all negativity for a week. In place of these mindless complaints about a co-worker or practice policy, come up with two or three solutions to improve the situation. Once complaining is cut from the daily routine, team members will be able to focus more on their jobs.
Managers: To make the rule work, Gordon says leaders must actually listen to their employees' ideas and involve team members in implementing a better way.
