New tick research shared by IDEXX and Companion Animal Parasite Council

Article

Tick-borne diseases found in every state of the country.

Representatives of the Companion Animal Parasite Council and IDEXX Laboratories shared newly available data revealing that tick populations are increasing and that they now reach across the United States. The data uncovered the presence of at least three tick-borne diseases-Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichiosis-in every state in the country. "This information is important because it indicates the significant degree to which people and pets are being exposed to tick-borne diseases and, therefore, the risk of developing some very serious illnesses," said Dr. Susan E. Little, PhD, DAVPC.
