NEOGEN acquires Genetic Veterinary Sciences, Inc (DBA Paw Print Genetics)
NEOGEN will take over several brands, including Paw Print Genetics, Canine HealthCheck, My CatScan, and AvianDx.
NEOGEN Corporation revealed that it has acquired Genetic Veterinary Sciences, Inc (GVS). GVS is a companion animal genetic testing company focused on providing companion animal owners, breeders, and veterinarians genetic information for dogs, cats, and birds. Their brands include Paw Print Genetics, Canine HealthCheck, My CatScan, and AvianDx.

With the growth in pet parenting globally over the past five years, and particularly as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this acquisition will further expand the opportunities for our global genomics business," said Marylinn Munson, NEOGEN’s Vice President of Genomics, in a company release.
"As a global leader in animal genomic testing, it is important for NEOGEN to continue expanding our portfolio of genomic tests and diversify our offerings in agriculture and food production to include enhanced testing for companion animals. The NEOGEN and GVS teams will be able to combine our experiences and expertise to work synergistically, as we help meet the demands of the growing market,” continued Munson.
Paw Print Genetics and its associated brands perform genetic testing, carrier screening, and disease analysis. They provide a clinical report that includes results, interpretations, and recommendations. NEOGEN Corporation develops and markets solutions dedicated to food and animal safety.
Additionally, the company’s food safety segment markets dehydrated culture media and diagnostic test kits to detect foodborne bacteria, natural toxins, food allergens, drug residues, plant diseases, and sanitation concerns.
