The new law, signed and effective May 18, mandates that the Department of Agriculture, on recommendation from the state veterinary board, may issue a temporary license to a veterinarian as long as he or she holds an active license in good standing from a state with requirements that are equal to or exceed Nebraska's standards.
The temporary license can be issued for no more than 90 days over a 12-month period.
