Nebraska considers non-DVM embryo transplants

LINCOLN, NEB. — If passed, non-veterinarians would be able to perform limited reproductive services in Nebraska, according to new legislation.

LB 696, introduced Jan. 19, would allow anyone who holds a master's degree with an emphasis on reproductive physiology to perform bovine embryo transplants. Permitted actions include recovering, freezing and transferring embryos, according to the legislation.
A hearing on the bill was set for late February, but results were not available by press time.
