ORLANDO, FLA. - 12/27/05 - The North American Veterinary Conference (NAVC) now features a lecture series in memory of the late James A. Jarrett, DVM.
Jarrett, a large animal veterinarian and longtime head of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, died last January due to complications associated with cancer. The series, kicked off by inaugural speaker Dr. Jenks Britt, honors Jarrett's contributions to bovine veterinary medicine, NAVC leaders say.
"We wanted to honor Jim in a way that would allow his memory to live on publicly among both his peers and younger veterinarians who might not have had the privilege we all did of knowing him," says Dr. Colin Burrows, NAVC executive director and program chair, in a prepared statement.
Britt reportedly will discuss the future of bovine practitioner education at 11:10 a.m. Jan. 10 during the upcoming conference at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando. He is a bovine practitioner and associate professor at Western Kentucky University.
