Mixlab raises $20 million to enhance the pet health experience

This modern pet pharmacy’s digital platform and same and next-day prescription delivery provides pet owners with a seamless, delightful experience that can lead to improved compliance.

Mixlab—a modern best-in-class pet pharmacy—recently announced a $20 million investment led by Sonoma Brands, with involvement from Global Founders Capital, Monogram Capital, Lakehouse Ventures, Brand Foundry and others to bolster the pet health experience within the evolving veterinary industry.

According to a company release, veterinarians are at the center of the rapidly expanding pet care industry—which is anticipated to reach $275 billion by 2030.1 To accommodate the robust need for innovative solutions and patient care amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Mixlab’s digital platform is designed to help manage the home delivery of medications including branded, generic, compounded, and over-the-counter medications while reducing their on-site pharmacy inventories.

"Even for routine appointments every pet parent is already in a heightened state of concern and vulnerability since they can't communicate with their companions in the same way they do with other family members," says Fred Dijols, CEO and cofounder of Mixlab.

"That's why we're furthering our commitment to delivering the best, personalized care to pets, in the fastest and most joyful way by leveraging this fundraise to enhance our technology offering and expand our operations to provide same-day delivery across new geographies beyond NYC and LA,” he adds.

Mixlab's proprietary technology also enables veterinarians to write prescriptions in seconds, track progress and therapy compliance. The platform accelerates the workflow so veterinary professionals can dedicate more time to offering superior patient care, thus enhancing their connection with patients and pet parents.

Additionally, Mixlab offers same and next-day prescription delivery that sends real-time updates and reminders regarding prescriptions and refills, creating a seamless and efficient experience for clients.

What’s more, Keith Levy, BBA, ExEd, operating partner at Sonoma Brands and former president of Royal Canin USA, will also be joining Mixlab's board of directors.

"Digital-based entrants into the human pharmacy space are indicative of an expectation of fast delivery and great service, and pet parents want the same experience for their beloved companions," says Levy, in the release.

"As illustrated by the rave reviews received, Mixlab has the potential to fill that consumer demand while at the same time guaranteeing that the process is managed end-to-end by their trusted vet, which creates the winning recipe,” he adds.
