Minimally Invasive Joint Surgery & Arthroscopy

Event

Date: April 01 - April 03, 2016

Description:

Instructor: Brian Beale DVM, DACVS

Course Description: This three day comprehensive course is designed for general practitioners or specialists interested in learning minimally-invasive techniques for treatment of OCD (shoulder, elbow, stifle, and tarsus), shoulder instability, elbow dysplasia, cranial cruciate ligament disease, meniscal tears, and collateral ligament tears. This course will teach techniques using traditional arthrotomy, arthroscopy, and arthroscopic-assisted arthrotomy. Arthroscopic-assisted arthrotomy is a new method of arthroscopy that is easy to learn and has all the advantages of traditional arthroscopy including better visualization, magnification, and better surgical precision. This method requires less start-up cost and is well-suited for general practitioners and specialists. An arthroscope is inserted into a mini-arthrotomy allowing quick and precise treatment of most joint disorders (OCD, elbow dysplasia, cruciate ligament tears, and meniscal tears). This technique can be learned in a day and trains the surgeon over time to perform traditional arthroscopy. Participants will use cadavers for all laboratory procedures. After completion of this course, participants should be competent at diagnosis and treatment of the above disorders.
