Mella Pet Care announces integration with QSM Diagnostics

Article

The merging of platforms will improve diagnoses and treatment

Mella Pet Care announced it integrated with QSM Diagnostics – a medical device company that develops test kits and instruments for bacterial identification – to allow users the ability to employ a singular platform to help ease the ratification of new technologies into veterinary clinics.

According to an organizational release,1 any Mella Desktop Application users will be able to operate the QSM Otter eQ instrument out of the box on their existing platform to stop the systems from operating separately. Users will be guided by the Mella Application through the testing process to help prevent errors and QSM users will receive test results automatically and will store the reports in its Patient Management software.

“Veterinarians are busy and many we’ve spoken with don’t have the time to learn new technology”, said Anya Babbitt, co-founder, and CEO of Mella Pet Care, in the organizational release.1 “Streamlining one platform benefits both startups and veterinary professionals. Now, we’ve created the ability to send infection test results directly back into the patient record.”

The test available through the integration will improve antibiotic stewardship for veterinary professionals by increasing the accuracy of identifying a patient’s bacterial infections. Quick bacterial detection and identification can help veterinarians prescribe the targeted antibiotics their patients need to feel better.
