Jorgensen Laboratories, Inc., introduces the AdvanTive IV catheter.
The AdvanTive catheter is constructed from polyurethane that is the preferred material for vascular access, the company says. The AdvanTive catheter remains firm for insertion, yet softens immediately upon contact with blood inside the vein, considerably minimizing the phlebitis rate due to mechanical friction, the company says. The AdvanTive catheter also is kink resistant and features a blood flashback chamber for indication of venous access, the company adds.
