AMES, IOWA - 11/9/05 - The W. Eugene and Linda R. Lloyd Endowed Professor Award was given to Dr. Anumantha Kanthasamy of Iowa State University's (ISU) College of Veterinary Medicine.

Kanthasamy is a professor of biomedical sciences, director of the Parkinson Disorders Research Program and chair of the interdepartmental toxicology graduate program at the university.

Kanthasamy advanced scientific understanding of the link between Parkinson's disease and agrochemicals and has researched health effects of environmental toxicological agents on the central nervous systems, university officials say.

Kanthasamy was appointed to a six-year professorship by ISU President Gregory Geoffroy at a ceremony.

The position will allow Kanthasamy access to additional resources to support his research, Geoffroy says.
