New RealPCR tests yield results in one to three days.
IDEXX Reference Laboratories has introduced RealPCR tests for feline anemia and feline upper respiratory disease. The feline hemotropic mycoplasma (FHM) test uses real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methodology to detect Mycoplasma haemofelis, Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum, and Candidatus Mycoplasma turicensis and provides a more sensitive result than microscopic evaluation. Practitioners get results in one to three days. The feline upper respiratory disease panel also uses real-time PCR methodology and detects the five most common organisms causing feline upper respiratory disease. For more, visit idexx.com/realpcr.
