COLLEGE PARK, MD. — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) celebrates 100 years of the Pure Food and Drugs Act of 1906.

A ceremony took place June 30 at FDA's Harvey W. Wiley Federal Building and featured United States Health and Human Services Secretary Michael O. Leavitt and acting FDA Commissioner Andrew C. von Eschenbach, MD.
The celebration included conferences and forums in cities coast-to-coast to observe the administration's role and to promote public health.
