The Unwanted Horse Veterinary Relief Campaign announces its spring vaccination numbers.
In its spring effort, the Unwanted Horse Veterinary Relief Campaign provided free vaccines to more than 1,600 horses through rescue and retirement facilities throughout the nation.
This brings the total number of horses served by the program to more than 4,000.
The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health co-sponsor the campaign, which offers free vaccines for eastern equine encephalomyelitis, western equine encephalomyelitis, rabies, tetanus, equine influenza, and equine herpesvirus.
August 1 is the deadline for fall vaccination applications. To qualify, facilities must have tax-exempt status, follow the AAEP Care Guidelines for Equine Rescue and Retirement Facilities, and work with an AAEP-member veterinarian.
