Dog has a not-so-bright idea

Article

Winnie the schnauzer has to be cut free from a piece of household decor.

Ocean City-Wright Fire Department officials were faced with a dilemma last month when a playful pooch had an unusual mishap. Fort Walton Beach, Fla., residents Frank and Audrey Tuele called 911 when their schnauzer Winnie got her hind paw stuck in a wrought-iron lamp. Winnie wasn't hurt, but she was unable to move and understandably frightened.

After examining the dog's paw, firefighters determined that it could not be pried loose. They instead took aim at the lamp, cutting through the thick metal with a pair of bolt cutters. Winnie was freed, unscathed. Hopefully, Winnie will keep her distance from household decor in the future.
