On the second day of the dvm360® Directions in Veterinary Medicine Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana, Aaron Smiley, DVM, delivered a keynote address that discussed burnout in the veterinary profession. During the lecture, Smiley explained the benefits of using telemedicine as a potential solution. In an interview with dvm360®, Smiley offered advice for practices that want to get started with telemedicine.

Aaron Smiley, DVM: If you’re considering offering paid telemedicine, the first place to start is to do an inventory of what [telemedicine] you already do… There are minor tweaks that we make to the overall system to be able to take a clinic from free telemedicine into paid telemedicine.
