Descriptive names out, human names in for dogs
New York -- Roll over, Rover. The American Kennel Club (AKC) reports that "Lady" and "Bear" top the list of most popular female and male dog names in the United States.

-- Roll over, Rover. The American Kennel Club (AKC) reports "Lady" and "Bear" top the list of most popular female and male dog names in the United States.
A survey of 2007 AKC registrations shows the top names for female dogs are, in order, Lady, Belle/Bell/Bella, Princess, Mae/May, Rose, Daisy Grace/Gracie, Baby, Molly and Maggie.
The top male dog names, in order, are Bear, Blue, Max/Maximus/Maxwell, Duke. Buddy, Jack, Prince, King, Bailey and Rocky.
