Comprehensive Patellar Luxation Correction Course
This course is designed for the veterinarian who wishes to learn/refine the techniques of correction of medially and laterally luxating patellas. Specific components of the surgical procedure taught will be trochlear wedge recession, tibial tuberosity transposition to correct pull of the quadriceps muscles, medial release, and lateral imbrication. This course will include a comprehensive discussion of the physical examination and diagnosis, preoperative planning, operative goals, postoperative management/ rehabilitation, avoiding complications, combined lateral suture for concomitant MPL and ACL, and how best to treat postoperative complications. The medial patella correction techniques will be demonstrated in a step-by-step fashion and practiced on canine cadavers.?*This program was reviewed and approved by the AAVSB RACE program for 8 hours of continuing education in jurisdictions which recognize AAVSB RACE approval.
