Canine TTA for Cranial Cruciate Ligament Repair

Event

Date: November 05 - November 06, 2017

Description:

Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA), a surgical method for treating dogs with deficient cranial cruciate ligament, was developed at the U. of Zurich, by Dr. Slobodan Tepic, founder of KYON, and Prof. Pierre Montavon.TTA advancing tibial insertion of the patellar ligament cranially by a predetermined amount so as to place the ligament at 90 degrees to the tibial plateau with the knee extended leads to only a slight modification of the geometry of the knee, yet it renders it stable throughout its functional range. Morbidity of the method is low, facilitating a fast recovery to function.Following ~150 cases treated at the U. Zurich during 2002-2203, in early 2004 the system was released into controlled clinical use by 20 surgeons in the US and as many in Europe and Asia. The first dedicated course was held by the end of 2004. Since then, numerous presentations on TTA have been delivered at major conferences, peer-reviewed articles have been published and over 100,000 patients have been treated with the KYON TTA system.Since 2004, KYON has instructed thousands of surgeons all over the world, refining planning, surgical technique, implants and instruments. This hands-on lab course includes:Theoretical basis for TTA, clinical development and experience, detailed surgical technique, managing difficult cases and complications, practical exercises with a plastic bone model, planning tutorials and exercises, cadaver demonstration, a wet lab where each participant performs at least one TTA, followed by case review and discussion.
