Anesthesia for Companion Exotic Small Mammals

Description:

This course will introduce veterinary support staff to both basic and advanced anesthesia techniques which can be utilized on common exotic small mammals such as rabbits, ferrets, Guinea pigs, chinchillas, and small rodents. Special equipment, drug protocol selection, monitoring techniques, catheterization, and intubation techniques will be emphasized. Advanced anesthetic techniques such as epidural anesthesia/analgesia and analgesic constant rate infusions will be discussed in detail. This course consists of of four (4) ninety (90) minute Real Time Sessions, supplemental library materials, interactive message board discussions, a mandatory end-of-course test, and may include online multiple choice quizzes (after each Real Time Session). Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course. The lecture portion of this course will be an audio presentation, please be prepared to listen.
