This is a blended educational experience where you will receive course content both online and at the Oquendo Center. The online content is credited with 6 hours of CE and the hands-on experience at the Oquendo Center is an additional 16 hours of CE.Course Details: This continuing education event consists of two facets:Three (3) hour real-time interactive lectures conducted in advance of the courseHands-on 2-day laboratory at the Oquendo Center in Las Vegas, NevadaPart 1: This course will start out with online learning with three (3) hour Real Time Sessions, supplemental library materials, interactive message board discussions and a mandatory end-of-course test will be given. Class sessions given the 3 Monday evenings immediately before the course (February 1, 8 and 15). Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to be considered for a course certificate of completion. The Q&A during the real time sessions of this course will be an audio presentation, please be prepared to listen.Part 2: There will be a laboratory session at the Oquendo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada Friday, Feburary 19, and Saturday, February 20. This 2-day course is designed to focus on canine and feline dentistry in order to strengthen the attendees knowledge and skills in dog and cat exodontia. Complete oral examination, charting, and treatment planning will be thoroughly reviewed. Discussion of intraoral radiographic acquisition and interpretation, periodontal disease, gingivostomatitis, tooth resorption, common oral tumors, and extraction techniques will be presented with numerous visual aids to enhance learning and increase retention for the attendees. Pathophysiology and treatment planning for the aforementioned diseases will be covered. Clinical cases will be used to set the stage for step-by-step presentations for canine tooth extractions with heavy emphasis on being able to predict the difficult tooth extraction, extraction pitfalls and complications will be presented to help attendees minimize complications and address complications if they should occur in clinical practice. The laboratory will provide the opportunity to put clinical skills into practice.What You Will LearnUnderstand clinical presentations, current knowledge of pathophysiology, diagnostics, and treatment options and techniques for canine periodontal disease, tooth resorption, fractured teeth, and common oral neoplasia.Produce and interpret canine intraoral radiographsPerform surgical extractions of the dog dentitionIncrease knowledge, confidence, and skill level in diagnosing and treating canine dental and oral diseases.
