Over 40 aspiring veterinarians will receive scholarships to attend the Become a Veterinarian Camp at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine

Vet Set Go announced that with the support of VCA Animal Hospitals, 45 students from across 19 states will be able to attend the Become a Veterinarian Camp this summer at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine from June 18, 2023, to June 23, 2023.

"The incredible interest in the competition and passion that jumped off the page of each entry was inspiring," expressed Chris Carpenter, DVM, founder and president of Vet Set Go, in an organizational release.1 "Opportunities like the Become a Veterinarian Camp are like gold for aspiring veterinarians and it's an honor to work with partners like VCA and Auburn to offer this once-in-a-lifetime scholarship opportunity."

According to the organizational release, the winners will be able to learn about veterinary medicine in Auburn University classrooms, clinics, and laboratories learning about a wide variety of animals from dogs to raptors.1 The 45 children will learn about agricultural animals, anatomy, first aid, public health, and wildlife and they will learn first-hand from veterinary students about education and careers attainable within veterinary medicine.

"The Become a Veterinarian Camp creates an incredible opportunity for young professionals to get hands-on with our field. It's an honor for VCA to sponsor the scholarships, making the camp and this profession overall more accessible to more people," said Timbrala Marshall, DVM, urgent care medical operations leader for VCA.1 "A critical piece of ensuring the sustainability of the veterinary field is to attract and invite in a wider group of young people, people who reflect the diverse communities we serve every day."

This year's group of winners are from different states across the united states and live in metropolitan, suburban, and rural areas. The students will have a full-time counselor for supervision and will stay in student dormitories, eat at campus dining facilities, and enjoy recreational and social activities.
