Howard Seim, III, DVM, DACVSVideo segments of clinical case material, carefully edited to form a real life experience, are used as a means of delivering the surgical lectures. All video cases are client owned animals and all of the surgical procedures performed are on patients that have come to the Instructors hospital. Case selection includes practical soft tissue surgical procedures that many veterinarians are able to perform in their practice. Oncology Outside The "Ivory Tower" (6 CE)

Sheri Siegel, DVM, DACVR & Kim Cronin, DVM, DACVIMThis session is intended to provide overall guidance related to oncology work-ups based on clients desires. This will include workups and discussions from the initial presentation and diagnostics to behavior and treatment. This will also include case presentations with the hope of audience participation and interaction.

Opioids, Marijuana and CBD (5 CE)

Morning Session - Alicia Karas, DVM, MS, DACVAAOral opioids are used for control of pain and other conditions in veterinary medicine. In this session we will consider the benefits and risks of oral opioids. What is the evidence for effect and how do we know it isn't the placebo effect? Prescribing practices and diversion risk: Where is all that Tramadol actually going? By the way, do you know which non-controlled substance might be finding its way out of the pill pockets and into kids' pockets?Medical Cannabis? The ABCs of THC and CBD. Suggested indications range from appetite stimulation to analgesia to the "anties" - anti-nausea, anti-seizure, anti-anxiety, and anti-cancer.
