Fears over antibiotic resistance are fueling new calls from Washington to further regulate antimicrobials used in food animals. The topic spurred hours of discussion at July's American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) meeting in Seattle. As the political rhetoric heats up, AVMA voted to form a task force to review the available science about antibiotic resistance. Go to House bill would ban some antibiotics for food animals.
