August 4th 2014"Driven to Bark" petition seeks 100,000 signatures for review by Obama administration.On August 4, Petplan Insurance launched “Driven to Bark,” an initiative to petition the Obama administration via the White House's petition site, We the People, to encourage all states to enact laws prohibiting animals from being left unattended in cars.Hot cars cause the deaths of many pets each year, yet only 15 states have statutes in place that discourage people from leaving pets in hot cars, Petplan states in a company release.

August 1st 2014Sometimes clients have other ideas in mind when they hear you'll be gone for a few days.I suppose there is some small effort involved in climbing Mt. Everest or leading an expedition to the North Pole. However, several times a year I face a much greater challenge: I try to take a few days off. Prisoners have escaped from Alcatraz with less effort than it takes me to get away from the office for a few days. Nonetheless, my family requires my attendance at an annual vacation, and the state of Pennsylvania politely recommends a certain amount of continuing education.

August 1st 2014Four new military veterinarians enter the Army Veterinary Corps, the highest number from any U.S. university.Army 2nd Lt. Jeff Ulmer was called to serve his country, but after his tour with Colorado's Fort Carson Mounted Color Guard he found a second calling: veterinary medicine. His experience with Army horses gave him insights into the long tradition and importance of supporting the health of U.S. military service animals, according to a release from Colorado State College of Veterinary Medicine.
