Dr. Furman, a mixed animal practitioner, owns The Animal Center in Alliance, Nebraska, with two partners, and focuses his interests on the beef cattle industry (both cow/calf and feedlot) with a special interest in practice management and economics. After receiving his MS degree in 1972 in reproductive physiology and DVM degree in 1976 from Colorado State University, he entered private practice. Furman is 1992 president of the Academy of Veterinary Consultants (AVC) and was named Veterinary Consultant of the Year in 1993. He is a member of the National and Nebraska Cattlemen}s Beef Associations and currently serves on the cattle health and well-being committees. He is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, Society of Theriogenology as well as AVC.
