Although antimicrobial dressings are becoming abundant in the hospital environment, the veterinary field has had limited access to this technology, yet animalsare more prone to wound infection than humans, the company says.

Made from Kendall's KERLIX gauze fabric, the KERLIX A.M.D. dressing containsPHMB (polyhexamethylene biguanide), an antimicrobial component proven toresist bacterial colonization within the dressing and reduce bacterial penetrationthrough the dressing, the company says. Its broad spectrum effectivenessmakes it a formidable weapon against gram negative, gram positive, and fungi/yeastmicro-organisms, and provides valuable insurance against the substantialrisk associated with potential wound infections, the company says.

The KERLIX A.M.D. dressing allows veterinarians to debride necrotic tissue, absorb wound exudate, secure primary dressings, and protect the wound, thecompany says.
