Don't hear praise through the grapevine.

A client compliment is it's own reward, but not when you don't personally receive the praise. If many of your team members hear clients' acclaim through the grapevine-that is, “Mr. Banks said he really appreciated you helping him to his car,” or “Ms. Wilde was raving about your special way with Whiskers”-take a tip from team members at Project Veterinary Clinic in Worden, Mont. Team members who missed hearing accolades firsthand get to pick a prize from the “tip” box, which includes coupons for lunch out or smoothies for the team or goodies from the dollar store. The most popular "tip" is the Get Out of Jail Free Card which entitles the bearer to a paid half-day off.
