Under agreement, when Intervet acquired Hoechst Roussel Vet in 1999,Intervet said Aventis Pharmaceuticals would retain Lasix as a registeredtrademark for the human drug. So the veterinary version of furosemide wasrenamed SALIX.
The renamed product will continue to contain the same ingredients asthe original formulation which debuted in 1967, and will be manufacturedin the same FDA-approved facilities.
