There are Chinese herbs that veterinarians take courses about and then prescribe that have herbal strychnine and herbal aconite in them—both of which are toxic to pets. Veterinarians that are not learning about dangerous herbs can be as much of a threat to their patients as pet owners who go to the store to buy herbs for their pets, and then maybe tell their veterinarian, Dr. Robinson adds.
