Veterinarian and award-winning fiddler
In this dvm360® interview, Dr Robin Downing recounts the time she was named an award-winning old-time fiddler
In a dvm360® interview, Robin Downing, DVM, DAAPM, DACVSMR, CVPP, CCRP, CVA, MS, tells the inspiring story of how she won the novice division of the Wyoming State Old-Time Fiddlers Contest in 1987. She credits the accolade to an encouraging teacher who taught her 3 tunes, a good ear for music, and her background in violin.
The following is a partial transcript of the video.
Robin Downing, DVM, DAAPM, DACVSMR, CVPP, CCRP, CVA, MS: Musicians come from all over the state, and play and participate and compete. He said, "You need to compete." And I'm like, "Harry, I just learned these 3 tunes," he goes, "You only need 3 tunes because you're going to play in what's called the novice division. The novice division is for those people who have never won a contest. So you'll be playing with other people who are just getting started and it'll be good."
