Blue Cross Veterinary Hospital in Long Beach, Calif., is always looking for ways to make patients more comfortable. So owner Dr. Melisa Hicks posted a notice in the lobby letting clients know that the clinic would gladly accept donations of used towels and blankets. "It gives clients a chance to clean out their closets, our patients get something soft in the cage, and it keeps our costs down," Dr. Hicks says. Any surplus towels and blankets go straight to the local animal shelter.
