“Clostridium perfringens enterotoxicosis cannot be presumptively diagnosed based on findings of fecal cytologic examination alone because large numbers of endospores have been reported in the feces of healthy cats. Using a combination of immunodetection and PCR appears to offer optimal diagnostic sensitivity.”
