Video
Atlantic City

In this dvm360® interview, Charlotte Lacroix, DVM, JD, outlined how this approach can help practitioners navigate the murky waters that come with holding their staff accountable in HR situations.

During a dvm360® interview at the 2021 Atlantic Coast Veterinary Conference (ACVC), Charlotte Lacroix, DVM, JD, detailed how the SOAP method (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan) used in veterinary medicine for documenting medical records can also help when writing up and holding a team member accountable.

View the video below for the entire discussion. The following is a partial transcript:

Charlotte Lacroix, DVM, JD: I think veterinary practices have a hard time holding people accountable when it comes to HR (Human Resources), because [practitioners] don't like writing things down...I think a really easy trick for practitioners in particular—because we are veterinarians, we know what the SOAP methodology is—when you write up an employee, use your SOAP [method], and put it in a memo format.
