The importance of representation within veterinary medicine

Orjuela, DVM, cofounder of the Latinx Veterinary Medical Association, explained why celebrating Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month within veterinary medicine promotes and gives Hispanic/Latinx veterinary professionals and clients the representation they deserve to get better care for patients.

Juan S. Orjuela, DVM: Hispanic/Latinx professionals are a growing minority in the veterinary industry. It has been estimated that there are over 20 million Latinx pet owners in the United States alone, and this number is steadily growing. So, that kind of just shows you how important it is to have this representation.
