Fort Dodge Animal Health received license approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for an erysipelas vaccine for mass application through automated water proportioners.

Fort Dodge Animal Health received license approval from the U.S. Departmentof Agriculture for an erysipelas vaccine for mass application through automatedwater proportioners. The new vaccine, Suvaxyn® E-Oral, is an avirulentlive culture of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathae for administration to pigs 6weeks of age or older, the company says.

"Suvaxyn E-Oral provides erysipelasprotection to pigs without the extensive labor and animal stress associatedwith traditional injectable vaccines," says Ron White, DVM, swine businessmanager for Fort Dodge Animal Health. Suvaxyn E-oral is packaged with aflavored diluent to enhance consumption of water containing the vaccine.When using with the flavored diluent and skim or powdered milk, pigs consumea viable dose of vaccine, the company says.
