Small Door Veterinary – a membership-based, tech-enabled veterinary care provider— announced it is opening a new clinic in Washington, DC. The new facility is led by managing veterinarian Heidi Heller, DVM, and Craig Randolph, DVM, as the senior veterinarian.

The new state-of-the-art practice will be located at 2110 14th Street, NW, making it the 7th location for the company but the first in Washington, DC. The company has 5 locations in New York City and recently opened a practice in Boston this past January.

"After several years building successful practices in New York City, and more recently Boston, we are excited to bring Small Door to my hometown of Washington DC. As a DC native who spent the first 18 years of my life here, I’m confident local pet owners are ready for our modernized approach to veterinary care and will immediately see the value," said Josh Guttman, co-founder, and CEO of Small Door, in an organizational release.1 "We know how committed Washingtonians are to their pets and we’re already seeing validation by the high volume of early sign-ups."

Small Door members pay $169 yearly per pet which includes a free exam, same or next-day appointment, 24/7 telemedicine, and more. According to the release,1 Small Door is one of the first veterinary companies to receive B Corp certification and works toward receiving American Animal Hospital Association accreditations for all of its practices.

“I have been in the [District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland] area my entire life and have watched it become more and more pet-friendly over the years,” said Heller.1 “Our model helps us build lasting, close relationships with our members and makes it possible to provide primary care by your veterinarian when you need it.”

The company also has plans to expand its DC reach by opening a second practice in the Navy Yard in April 2023.
