An exam room advocate is essentially a concierge, Peter Weinstein, DVM, MBA, owner of PAW Consulting and executive director of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association, says. They greet the client at the door and are the point person for that client throughout their entire appointment.
An exam room advocate is also the right-hand person for the veterinarian. They make sure everything goes smoothly from start to finish, but they should also act as transcription nurses, Dr. Weinstein says, allowing the doctor to focus on just being a doctor.
