The product is powered by small vibration-resistant compressors and are efficient, needing less power than a light bulb. They also will get as cold as an average freezer, at zero degrees or less. They are thermostatically controlled and can operate as refrigerators.
Most of the larger units will also operate off normal household power (110 volts).
Transportation of vaccines and other medications that may be temperature sensitive is now easier, the company adds. The cold chain is easily maintained which makes them ideal for veterinary practices, the company says.
