Photo package: Veterinarians combat the oil in the Gulf (part 9)
The explosion on BP's Deepwater Horizon killed 11 people on April 20 and mushroomed into the greatest man-made natural disaster in U.S. history.

The clean-up: oil is painstakingly removed from this sea turtle's shell using a toothbrush. This turtle was rescued and taken to the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Center in New Orleans. Dr. Michael Ziccardi (right), a University of California-Davis wildlife expert, was also on the scene.
