Photo package: Veterinarians combat the oil in the Gulf (part 6, large)

The explosion on BP's Deepwater Horizon killed 11 people on April 20 and mushroomed into the greatest man-made natural disaster in U.S. history.

According to the latest consolidated government estimates, some 442 birds have been visibly oiled and captured alive. The greatest number of birds, 415, have been collected from Louisiana. Only 14 visibly oiled birds have been reported in Alabama and even fewer numbers were reported in Florida.
