Petco extends health and wellness plan to birds, fish, reptiles, and more

The Petco Vital Care program, which provides unlimited veterinary exams and discounts on pet supplies, will expand to include all species of pets, including reptiles, birds, and fish

Petco Health and Wellness Company (Petco) announced that it is expanding its Vital Care membership program to include birds, fish, reptiles, and small pets. This program was originally just for dogs and cats but will now offer exclusive savings and rewards to a wider variety of pets.

"Extending the quality care and benefits our Vital Care program offers to cover all types of family pets is yet another move that's good for pets and good for our business," said Jenny Wolski, Petco senior vice president, omnichannel customer experience, in an organizational release.1

"Vital Care has grown significantly—in both popularity and benefits—since we launched it 2 years ago. Pet parents continue to seek ways to better care for the health of their pets and their budgets, and Vital Care helps them do both," she continued.

For those interested, pet parents can enroll their pets into Vital Care for a monthly fee per pet, and already existing Vital Care members can add a bird, reptile, fish, or small animal to their plan for a small additional cost. According to the release, some of the benefits include1:

  • 20% off supplies for small pets, birds, fish, and reptiles

  • 20% off purchases of additional small pets, birds, fish, and reptiles
  • Unlimited routine veterinary exams at Vetco Total Care locations or unlimited $20 Pal Rewards for every routine exam at the member's veterinary of choice for dogs and cats
  • Pals Reward every month

"Companion animals deserve the same love and care as dogs and cats, so I couldn't be more thrilled that Petco will help make a profound, positive impact on these pets and the parents who love them by extending Vital Care offerings to all types of family pets," expressed La'Toya Latney, DVM, DECZM (Zoo Health Management), DABVP (Reptile & Amphibian), CertAqV, and a member of Petco's Pet Wellness Council.

"My passion is providing innovative solutions to beloved companion animals that typically have less representation in the market. This expanded membership plan is a great solution for pet parents looking for ways to save money and meet their pets' health and wellness needs as they would their own," she concluded.1

Pet parents can sign up for Vital Care in Petco Pet care centers, online, or through the Petco application.
