Paws and profits: IndeVets promotes 5 veterinarians to a newly created senior role, and more updates

A veterinary relief company is investing in clinical leadership from within, promoting five of its own doctors to a newly created senior role designed to strengthen mentorship and career sustainability. Meanwhile, an indoor dog training franchise has named a new chairman of the board and a new chief financial officer, both with most recent experience at Petco. Senior associates at IndeVets (5 locations)

IndeVets has expanded its clinical leadership team by promoting five associate IndeVets to a newly created senior associate IndeVet role, growing the team from 13 to 18 veterinarians. The following veterinarians were promoted:

• Dani Cimino, DVM (Boston, Massachusetts)
• Kristen Dewey, DVM (Raleigh, North Carolina)

• Erin Hoff, DVM (Minneapolis, Minnesota)
• Ling Iem, DVM (Atlanta, Georgia)
• Sruti Sreerama, DVM (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

These individuals were selected through a competitive application process that required completion of IndeVets' year-long Foundations of Leadership program and its General Practice Certificate, along with demonstrated clinical excellence, according to IndeVets. In their new roles, they will balance hands-on patient care with responsibilities that include onboarding, mentoring, and supporting fellow associate IndeVets, conducting medical record reviews, and driving local community engagement. The move comes as IndeVets cites industry data showing veterinary team turnover running at roughly 23% annually and climbing, with career development identified as one of the top factors in reducing attrition.¹

"This new role reflects our belief that leadership should be rooted in clinical experience and intentionally designed to support veterinarians at every stage of their careers," Christina Moore, DVM, MBA, senior vice president of clinical leadership at IndeVets, said in a company news release.¹ "When veterinarians feel supported, connected, and see a future for themselves, they're more likely to stay in the profession."

Ron Coughlin, MBA, chairman of the board, Zoom Room

Zoom Room, the indoor dog training gym franchise, has named former Petco CEO Ron Coughlin as chairman of the board as the brand targets 550 locations by 2030. At Petco, Coughlin repositioned the company as a pet health and wellness leader, adding seven million customers, growing revenues by over 40%, and expanding its veterinary footprint from single digits to more than 280 locations, Zoom Room said.2 Prior to Petco, Coughlin held senior roles at HP and PepsiCo. In his new role, he will work closely with CEO Mark Van Wye on strategy, talent development, industry relationships, and long-term value creation.

Soumik Chatterjee, MBA, CFO, Zoom Room

Zoom Room has also brought on Soumik Chatterjee as chief financial officer. Chatterjee's most recent position was also at Petco, where as chief strategy and transformation officer he played a role in transforming the brand from a declining retailer into an omni-channel pet health and wellness leader, scaling its services business to over $200 million, driving 40% revenue growth, and more. He also brings experience from HP, Qualcomm, Capital One, and Accenture. At Zoom Room, he will apply his financial and operating experience to support the brand's national franchise expansion.
