N.Y. shelters given OK to transfer unclaimed pets

Albany, N.Y. —Shelters with animals whose redemption periods have expired are now able to transfer them to other facilities in hopes of increasing the chances of adoption.

The new law was approved on June 22 and takes effect immediately.
