Epakitin is sold in a powder form and can be mixed with pets' regular food as an alternative to a prescription diet for finicky dogs and cats reluctant to accept a change in diets.
Epakitin is dispensed exclusively through veterinarians.
The product helps to safely and effectively decrease the kidney's workload by reducing plasma phosphorus concentrations, as well as the level of uremic toxins that are usually eliminated by the kidneys, says Dr. Eric Linn, director of scientific affairs at Vétoquinol USA.
